About the Founder: Marcelo Oleas
Welcome to DementiaHelp.io. My journey into the world of dementia began in 2017 when my uncle was diagnosed with Frontotemporal Dementia (FTD). I joined forces with my cousin to support her in his care, and together, we became his primary caregivers.
Much to our surprise, we found a startling lack of localized resources and clear information to help us navigate his care.
This was only the beginning. Shortly after, my stepfather was diagnosed with Lewy Body Dementia, and my maternal grandmother began her battle with Alzheimer’s.
Seven Years in the Trenches
For seven years, I lived the reality of a caregiver. I learned the intricacies of at-home care, the stress of hospital stays, and the difficult transition into memory care facilities. I experienced the “trial and error” firsthand because there was no roadmap.
A Tribute and a Resource
Sadly, all three of my loved ones have passed away. I created DementiaHelp.io as a tribute to them and as a lifeline for you.
My mission is to provide the comprehensive, practical, and compassionate resources I couldn’t find when my family and I needed them most.
